CosmicTribune: Hi Polina, tell us how you got started in modeling. Polina: I have always loved being the center of attention and the first time I got in front of the camera I knew it was what I wanted to do. CosmicTribune: What was your first shoot? Polina: I was shot by a photographer and then signed with an agency in Boston and then moved to New York. I was very nervous my first time because I had never done a professional shoot. I was 16. CosmicTribune: You're originally from the land of Putin. Do you remember anything from the old country? Polina: I don't remember it from when I lived there because I was 5 when I left, but I have been back and it is beautiful. I love the architecture, in my opinion its the best in the world. And the people are great as well, they believe in real friendship, not fakeness. |
Polina: There it's not about making money and gettin on top and trampling over people.
It's about family and friendship and being real.
If someone doesnt like you they don't pretend like they do.
CosmicTribune: What is the modeling accomplishment you are most proud of so far? Polina: I am proud of all my accomplishments equally, everything makes me more and more accomplished with each job. I love what I do, and I know that it is mostly luck not personal accomplishments. I just like to be the best at what I do and I never set a specific goal. I just hope to progress to the best that I can. CosmicTribune: Have you done any acting? Polina: I have done a couple music videos and one commercial for a flooring company (airing now in the Boston area) Maybe one day I will do some acting but I am sticking to modeling for now. CosmicTribune: Most embarassing moment on a shoot? Polina: Not a model shoot but during a fashion show they put me in the front of the line and vogue, elle, and other major fashion magazines were all there and when I walked out the button in the back of the dress broke so when I turned to walk off my entire butt was visible. It was awful. And this was the first big show I ever did. But I kept walking as if it were normal. |

CosmicTribune: Are there models you look up to, wish to emulate? Polina: Not specifically. I admire everybody who makes it in the business on their own (not from sleeping with somebody or doing things to put down others) But you never know who makes it honestly and who doesn't. CosmicTribune: Have you ever slept with anyone to further your career? Polina: No way. CosmicTribune: Biggest misconception people have about you? Polina: That I am a bitch, or standoffish...guys approach me in a club and I don't pay them mind and they call me stuck up...I am not stuck up, I just don't like talking to people I don't know at a club who are trying to get in my pants. CosmicTribune: Do you have a b/f? Polina: Yes I do, and he is great. He hates the modeling thing because I have to travel a lot and I am in magazines like Stuff and FHM but he still sticks by my side. |
CosmicTribune: Best thing that's ever happened to you in life?
Polina: Probably him - we have been together for 6 years so he is a big part of my life. We've grown together and we both made our mistakes but we try to learn from them. I'm sounding really cheesy now, lol I am not like that. CosmicTribune: Favorite food? Polina: Russian. But I also love Italian and Carribean food. I make everything from my own tastes and my own recipe so I don't make a specifically named thing, but I make some really good beans with tomato sauce. CosmicTribune: Spend much time on the internet? Favorite Sites? Polina: onemodelplace and myspace and my email...I am addicted to those three. I'm PolzRay on myspace. CosmicTribune: Complete the following - "I wish I had" and also "If I could change anything" Polina: I wish I had a boat, a speed boat or a yacht. I love being out on the water. And if I could change anything I would have started modeling earlier.
