CosmicTribune: Good morning Laura, how did you get started in modeling? Laura: A photographer friend of mine approached me 4 years ago and did my first 3 shoots. He said he would not have wasted his time if he didn't think I had a shot CosmicTribune: Had you been in fitness contests prior to modeling? Laura: Yes, bodybuilding competitions starting in 1995. My husband and I competed from 1995-1997 CosmicTribune: Is he the one who got you into weights? Laura: Yes. I saw a transformation in my body that I had never seen, and I liked it CosmicTribune: This was after you had your children? Was body building a means to tone up after child birth? Laura: Yes, I had our 4th child in 1992. I wanted to be in shape for myself and our children. There is a lot of heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes in our family and wanted to try and prevent as much of that as possible through diet and exercise |
CosmicTribune: How did you do in the fitness contests? Is the Arnold Classic considered
one of the big ones?
Laura: I was at the Amateur level and only competed in the "all natural" competitions where you were tested to see if you were taking steroids or anything along those lines. The Arnold does not test for that. I am against those types of drugs, I consider it cheating and it is very detrimental to your health. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger? He had heart surgery due to the stuff he was taking during his competing days. Yet, they are the ones that get noticed and get all the endorsements and get noticed in all the magazines. I don't think it's fair to the rest of us who do this naturally. CosmicTribune: I hadn't heard his heart surgery linked to the steroids. Laura: I believe I had heard he or someone had mentioned something along those lines. I firmly believe it is related. CosmicTribune: Have your workouts changed from the days you competed in fitness contests, to now doing glamour modeling? Laura: I competed in 3 Figure competitions last year. I do not train as heavy with my legs now. I train sort of heavy on my upper body because genetically I don't get big in the upper part of my body. So I want to keep defined. I watch what I eat, but don't need to diet to the extreme that you do when competing |

Laura: I just want to be in shape at all times to be ready for a shoot at any time. I work on one body part a week. If I don't make it to the gym 4 days a week like I like to, then I always make sure I work my legs. CosmicTribune: Do you mix in other sports? squash, racquetball, running, tennis etc ? Laura: No time. I work full time for the State of NH and part time waitressing on the weekends. So, I get additional cardio running around at the restaurant. I watch my teenage children play sports all year. When they are not playing sports, they most often come to the gym with me to work out CosmicTribune: While you don't shoot nudes, your pics are quite sexy. Does that create any friction with the kids? When I went to High School, it might have seemed strange if my friends had posters of my mom on their bedroom wall. Laura: They are fine with it. They are hoping that something will happen for me, because I am hoping to make a lot of money modeling (to help my family) so that my husband and I don't have to work so many jobs. They do think it's weird, especially my son, if their friends comment about me. |
CosmicTribune: Where would you like modeling to lead to?
Laura: Modeling contracts for fitness sportswear, & supplements. Be featured in all the fitness magazines & posters. I would also like to have modeling contracts with lingerie and swimwear companies. Also, maybe be featured in some of the men's magazines. CosmicTribune: Which men's magazines? Playboy? Laura: No, Maxim, Stuff, FHM, magazines along those lines. If they ever start looking at women my age. So far they are only interested in the "young" girls CosmicTribune: So we're not going to see "the full monte" Laura: No. If Hugh Hefner ever approached me, I may. But, I don't believe that will happen so I don't have to worry about it CosmicTribune: Hef are you reading this? That was a yes Laura: I don't have a name, and since I don't have a name ... CosmicTribune: It's somewhat politically incorrect to be a glamour model - feminists would want us to believe that it is somehow degrading to artistically display your curves. Any comment on that? Laura: Feminists can believe what they want. I consider them to be jealous that they are not doing it. I don't feel I am degrading myself in any way. I enjoy modeling and looking and feeling sexy. You can be sexy at any age. People all have their own opinions about things. They can feel however they want. It is not going to change how I feel or what I do. CosmicTribune: If you could go on a dinner date with anyone in the world, who would it be with? Laura: Ummm, it would have been the guy who played the father on Little House on the Prairie. I can't remember his name CosmicTribune: Michael Landon. Why Him? Laura: I found him to be very sexy and his roles that he played were very kind, giving, and spiritual. Laura: No time. I only update the websites that I am on. Sometimes I will check out shoe websites or clothing websites like www.funkyboutique.com, www.electriqueboutique.com CosmicTribune: You like shoes, do you? Laura: Yes, stilhettos CosmicTribune: How high? Laura: 5-7 inches CosmicTribune: Speaking of clothing, what are you wearing right now? Laura: Well, I'm at work and Fridays are casual, so jeans, a sweater and boots. Boots with heels, I never wear flats. CosmicTribune: How tall are you today? Laura: Maybe 5'10" |

If I could change anything it would be my butt and eyes. CosmicTribune: Favorite music/bands? Laura: Todays pop music, 80's hairbands, and Disco.
