CosmicTribune: Welcome Claudia. First off, what are you wearing right now? Claudia: Jeans and a speed racer t-shirt, no shoes, no make-up. CosmicTribune: You have an exotic look. Are you from the U.S. originally? Claudia: Born in the USA. My mom's from El Salvador and my dad's from Haiti. CosmicTribune: How did you get started in modeling? Claudia: When I was younger and not so well endowed (I was flat chested and really skinny), I did commercials and print. My first job was at 15 shooting a commercial for a local retail store. I went on to do a bunch of commercials for Latin America, Slice softdrink, Toyota. I shot music videos for the Latin Prince and a few others that I don't even remember! (Music videos were not as bad as they are now and I no longer shoot videos), I did some extra work in movies such as The Birdcage and Moon Over Miami and shot print stuff for catalogs, brochures etc. CosmicTribune: Modeling accomplishment you are most proud of? Claudia: All of them. I get excited everytime I book a job! |
CosmicTribune: Most embarrassing moment on a model shoot?
Claudia: I was shooting a segment for a tv show and the set was so hot. I was sweating profusely while the other 2 girls looked cool as cucumbers. I was mortified...I felt like the fat sweaty kid. CosmicTribune: What is your strength as a model? Claudia: I'm wise about what assignments I choose to accept. I've been doing this for so long, that I can smell shadiness from a mile away. I also have grown quite a thick skin when it comes to being rejected for some assignments. If I'm not hired, then I wasn't what the client was looking for. that's cool. CosmicTribune: How often have you been asked to do nude shoots / porn? Claudia: I've made it very clear that I'm not interested in the "adult industry" but I still get those requests everyday. It comes with the territory and is the product of the way I look. I'm not the typical looking fashion model. I'm more swimsuit and glamour. CosmicTribune: Have you done much acting? Claudia: I'm not an actress. I don't have any formal acting training and am not interested in acting. I want to be on cam, though. I want to host tv segments and shows. I'd love to break into entertainmnet news and eventually hard news. |

CosmicTribune: What's a typical Claudia Verela workout to stay in shape? Claudia: It depends. When I was in really good shape, I was running 4 days a week and weight training 4 days a week. The past year has been strenuous for me; trying to finish school, working as a bartender. I wasn't focused on modeling. Now, I'm back in the gym and trying to eat properly, trying to lay of the indulging! CosmicTribune: Biggest misconception people have about you? Claudia: In pictures, I can appear tall, statuesque, but I'm shrimp, 5'3". When people meet me in person they're like WOW! You're so short! I also think people see something totally different that the real me. People see me on the internet or on magazines, they see this busty chick scantlity clad, and who knows what they think: slut, vixen, party girl, easy, bitch. They see me airbrushed and fully made-up...the finished product. In reality...I'm pretty plain and a home body. I slob around in a t-shirt without any make-up on, hang out with my cat. I'm a computer and internet nerd and I'm always on eBay! |
CosmicTribune: If you could go on a dinner date with anyone in the world, who would it be with?
Claudia: If I was single, it would have to be Robert Di Niro. He's a legacy, a great actor, so cultured and classy. CosmicTribune: Favorite foods? Claudia: I'm a food conosseour! I get on these ethnic kicks, French, Cuban, Italian, Haitian, Salvadoran. I love asian food ( vietnamese, sushi, thai). I love garlic, and spicy stuff. I'm on and Indian food kick. Yummy! CosmicTribune: Do you spend much time surfing the internet? Favorite websites? Claudia: Yep! I'm always ont the internet! I love eBay. I've become a MySpace junkie! CosmicTribune: Favorite music/bands? Claudia: I'm into old rock bands: The Cult, Motley Crew, Rob Zombie, Alice in Chains. I used to be into Heavy Metal when I was young: Sepultura, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pantera. I'm also into house: Danny Tenaglia, Rabbit in the Moon, Victor Calderone, Johnny Viscious. It's funny, but on my MySpace profile, I'm linked to all these Hip Hop & rap bands even though personally I don't care for the genre.. |

CosmicTribune: Complete the following - "I wish I had" and also "If I could change anything" Claudia: Sometimes I wish I had bigger buns. If I could change anything, I would put an end to the turmoil of the Middle East. I also wish that I could play an instrument! CosmicTribune: What is standard bedtime clothing? Claudia: Tank top and boy shorts or nothing at all. My mom always warns me that if my placed ever burned down, I'd be screwed (naked) CosmicTribune: Do you have any secret talents we don't know about? Claudia: I can draw and sketch really well. I've never taken any art classes and I seldom draw, but once in a while, I get the urge to pick up a pencil and paper and wow! CosmicTribune: Last question - tell me something I don't know Claudia: I've been a bartender for years (People are starting to put two and two together). I'm Obsesive Compulsive and have mild ADD.
